As for me, this was the first day I feel I have been at least a little bit in control of the household again! The flu symptoms have finally left and I'm feeling stronger. My husband had some research he needed to do at the library near campus so we timed it around the need to pick up Christopher from work. While he was working on his research, I sat in an overstuffed chair on the second floor of the library and spent an hour quietly reading.
I decided to get the kitchen all clean (it helps so much to have a pleasant evening if I do a mid-day load of dishes, even if there aren't many) and put our late lunch in the Crockpot. I did all of this on my own so the guys were surprised and happy when they arrived home at 1:30 to find a hot meal waiting for them and frosted brownies ready for dessert. We have our big meal in the late afternoon on the days Christopher has to leave before dinnertime for his class. Isn't it amazing how much happier a home can be when someone has put in a little bit of time planning?
Speaking of those who have to plan a lot, for you moms who enjoy Sally Clarkson's books, she has two new blogs. The first one is Whole Heart Moms and the other is her more personal blog called I Take Joy (although they often have contained the same posts). Her daughter has a great blog that I enjoy, too. It is called Itinerant Idealist. You certainly don't have to be a homeschooler to enjoy these blogs. One of Sally's books, The Mission of Motherhood, is an all time favorite of mine. I read it a couple of times and then gave it to my daughter. Then I purchased it again at a library sale and read it again. This copy has been put on my bookshelf where I keep my favorites. I can't recommend it enough. It's the kind of book I love to take with me when I can get away to Panera for a couple of hours of coffee, reading, and slowly nibbling away at an orange scone.
Thank you again for all of your prayers and good wishes.
