This offprint portrait of Lev Tolstoi made 23 May 1908 by Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky you can see in the Foam exposition Primrose Russian Color Photography in Amsterdam.
In the pictures after the revolution the use of red is an real eye-catcher as this portrait of young sea cadets from Yakov Khalip around the end of 1940.
This graphical shot with flag and a silhouette of the Kremlin is also one of beautiful composition and great symbolic value made by Dmitry Baltermans in the sixties.
All in all very interesting and I recommend it to everyone if this traveling exposition is coming in the neighborhood.
