Sergio Aguero: Barcelona star admitted to hospital for “heart exam” after chest pain during match

The 33-year-old was medicated on the pitch after being seen holding his chest moments before half-time and was later replaced during the break.

Doctors took care of Aguero as he lay on his back, but the player was able to walk off the pitch on his own.

“I was told he was feeling a little lightheaded. I just learned he was taken to the hospital and I can’t say much more until I know,” said interim Barcelona manager Sergi Barjuan after the match.

The club confirmed that Aguero had been taken to the hospital for a cardiac exam in a social media post but has not yet released the results of the exam.

Aguero’s former club Manchester City posted a message on Twitter wishing the striker well.

“Everyone at Manchester City wishes you a speedy recovery,” it reads. “We are with you.”

Aguero was making his first start at Camp Nou following his summer transfer from the Premier League club.

The striker is recovering from his injury as Barcelona have started the season poorly.

Ronald Koeman was sacked from coaching last week due to the team’s poor form, with the club currently languishing ninth in La Liga.
