Greater Bay Airlines (Hong Kong) intends to launch operations from Hong Kong (HKG) to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) (BKK), Phuket (HKT) and Singapore (SIN).
The new airline intends to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Business Plan:
Greater Bay Airlines was established in response to the Central Government's national strategy for developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the integration of Hong Kong into Chinese Mainland's overall development. The completion of a third runway at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) by 2024 will further strengthen Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub and as a connecting point into the Greater Bay Area. Cross-border infrastructure such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, high-speed ferries to the SkyPier at HKIA, high-speed rail from Hong Kong to Shenzhen and Guangzhou, an extensive motorway network, and more border crossings such as the one opened at Liantang in 2020 will facilitate travel within the region and help to make Hong Kong a smart choice for enterprises looking to participate in the development of the Greater Bay Area.
We believe the 55,000-square-kilometer Greater Bay Area will become a hotbed of financial and technological growth in the years to come. Our aim is to expand existing accessibility to the region by offering quality passenger and air freight services to its combined population of 86 million people.
The completion of the third runway at Hong Kong International Airport by 2024 will provide Greater Bay Airlines with a golden opportunity to expand its fleet and network. We have applied to operate to a total of 104 destinations in Chinese Mainland and the broader Asian region and have plans to expand our fleet in line with network growth. We plan to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2021 with three Boeing 737-800 passenger aircraft.
